This academic year, we celebrate momentous milestones in the journey of the Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise: 15 years since the transformative naming of the school, 10 years since the doors of the Becker Business Building opened to empower innovation, and 5 years of championing entrepreneurship as a driving force in our curriculum.
To honor this legacy and celebrate the champions who will impact the next 15 years, we are proud to present the inaugural Barnett Business Hall of Fame & Awards.

Southern Trailblazer Award
The Southern Trailblazer Award honors one exceptional young alumnus who graduated from Florida Southern College within the last 10 years and has boldly forged a path of innovation, leadership, and impact in the early stages of their career. This award celebrates the spirit of a trailblazer; someone who defies convention, embraces risk, and creates meaningful change in their industry or community. Whether launching a startup, leading transformative initiatives, or championing social enterprise, the recipient exemplifies the entrepreneurial mindset and values instilled by the Barnett School.
To be eligible for this award, nominees must:
- Be an alumnus (either undergraduate or graduate) of Florida Southern College.
- Have graduated from Florida Southern College in the 2016-17 Academic year or later.
- Have demonstrated early career success and leadership.
- Have proven commitment to innovation, ethical business practices, and community engagement.
- Serve as a role model for current students and fellow alumni.
Entrepreneur of the Year Award
The Entrepreneur of the Year Award celebrates a visionary leader whose entrepreneurial achievements exemplify innovation, resilience, and impact. This honor recognizes an individual who has built or transformed a business with exceptional creativity, strategic insight, and a commitment to ethical leadership.
To be eligible for this award, nominees must:
- Be an alumnus (either undergraduate or graduate) of Florida Southern College.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial success through founding, scaling, or transforming a business or organization.
- Proven impact in their industry or community through innovation, job creation, or social responsibility.
