Move-Out Information
Fall 2024
Non-graduating residents are to check out of their housing within 24 hours of their last final. Communities will close on Thursday, December 12 at 1:00 PM for non-graduating residents.
Florida Southern will not be providing winter break housing.
Graduating residents need to be checked out by Sunday, December 15 at 1:00 PM.
24-Hour Quiet Hours
Quiet hours begin on Friday, December 6 at 9:00 PM and end on Thursday, December 12 at 1:00 PM.
Checkout Procedures
- Set up a check out time with your Resident Advisor (RA). Failure to comply with proper checkout procedures within your hall will result in an “Improper Checkout” base fee of $50 being charged to your student account. Additional charges will be added based on any additional issues upon checkout such as a missing key and room damages. Checkout will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
- Non-Graduating/Returning Students
- Checkout shifts will take place between Friday, December 6 at 8:00 AM and Thursday, December 12 at 1:00 PM with your RA.
- If you plan to leave outside of this time, discuss alternatives with your RA.
- Returning students will return to their same room in the spring.
- Graduating Students/Non-Returning Students
- Saturday, December 14 from 8:00AM to 6:00PM and Sunday, December 15 from 8:00AM to 1:00 PM with your RA.
- If you plan to leave outside of this time, discuss alternatives with your RA.
- All belongings must be removed from your room prior to checking out with your RA.
- Non-Graduating/Returning Students
- Before your RA arrives:
- Have all possessions out of your room.
- Be sure room is broom clean.
- Empty desk drawers, dressers, and closets.
- Remove all wall and door decorations, i.e. poster putty, posters, tape, etc.
- Empty wastebaskets and place extra trash in dumpsters outside the building.
- Check to make sure none of your room furniture is missing. You will be charged for any missing, damaged or altered room furniture.
- Bathrooms need to be clear of items and cleaned.
- All items need to be removed from kitchens.
- During your checkout appointment:
- Your RA will note damages to your room.
- Give your room key and mailroom key (if applicable) to your RA. Note: If you do not return your key(s) at checkout, a charge will be assessed to your account based on your residential community.
Damages
Any damages to your room noted by your Resident Advisor (RA) at the time of check out, or by your Community Director after the halls close, will be billed to your student account. In cases where responsibility for common area damage or missing property cannot be specifically assigned, all students occupying the floor or building will be responsible for damage basis.
