5 Things to Do During Southern Select

We are thrilled to welcome all our accepted Mocs to campus for Southern Select! This special day is packed with events designed to give you a glimpse of life at Florida Southern, from campus tours and academic showcases to connecting with current students.

While the official schedule is jam packed, there’s even more to explore while you’re here. If you have extra time, here are a few things you won’t see listed on the itinerary but are worth checking out:

1. See the sights around campus

Your campus tour will give you a glimpse of the main highlights, but there’s so much more beauty and history to explore at FSC. Take a quiet moment to recharge in the Meditation Garden, or enjoy a peaceful walk through Ruth’s Rose Garden, a hidden gem on campus. Be sure to check out the Water Dome and take some time to explore the many Frank Lloyd Wright buildings that make our campus one of a kind.

2. Feed Your Appetite

Lunch will be provided at Wynee’s Bistro, but if you’re still hungry later in the day, check out some of our other favorite campus food spots:

  • Steak ‘n Shake for classic burgers and fries
  • BuckStop, where you can grab outdoor brick oven pizza
  • Fresh Twist, grab freshly baked pretzles and flatbreads 
  • Mocketship for acai bowls and smoothies
  • Happy Place for delicious barbeque

3. Snap a Photo

Capture your visit with a photo in front of the iconic FSC sign. Don’t forget to share your picture on social media and tag @FSCadmissions—we’d love to see it!

4. Catch the Mocs in Action

Stick around after Southern Select to cheer on one of our teams at Berend Field. There’s nothing like the energy of a game day to give you a true sense of campus spirit and community.

5. Explore Lakeland

Lakeland has so much to offer just minutes from campus! Consider stopping by Hollis Garden, shopping and dining at Lakeside Village, strolling through downtown Lakeland, or exploring Bonnet Springs Park to experience more of the city.

We can’t wait to see you at Southern Select! Take it all in, ask questions, and imagine yourself as a Moc. It’s going to be an unforgettable day!
