The Roberts Academy Launches First-Grade Program

Apr 24, 2024

The Roberts Academy at Florida Southern College embarks on a new journey; the launch of a first-grade program. As a school that currently serves children from 2nd to 8th grade, this new addition is a testament to the school’s commitment to providing students with the essential educational tools and methodologies proven successful in the early intervention of dyslexia.

The Roberts Academy follows the Florida State Standards in all subject areas. The Orton-Gillingham method is used for reading, writing and spelling, and taught in a grade-level specific manner, which students can then apply to other academic areas. This ensures that students receive an education that meets academic standards while accommodating to unique learning needs.

Recognizing the importance of parent involvement and engagement, The Roberts Academy offers various opportunities for parents to be involved in their student’s education, such as quarterly Brunch and Learn sessions. These initiatives foster a sense of community and provide parents with valuable knowledge of their child’s educational goals.

The Academy makes sure financial constraints do not impede on access to the program. They accept the Family Empowerment Scholarship- Unique Abilities (FES-UA) which is offered to students who have been diagnosed with dyslexia in Florida. The school also offers The Roberts Academy Scholarship, an alternative financial support option for students.

As The Roberts Academy enters this new chapter, it reaffirms the commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and the empowerment of students with dyslexia to thrive academically and beyond. This new addition will extend their reach to even more students, setting them on a path to success early in life. These inclusivity efforts guarantee that every child, regardless of their learning needs, is accommodated, welcomed, and supported at school.
