Biography

Mr. MacDonald received his B.A. degree in History from The University of Alabama and his M.S.L.S. from Florida State University. He brought academic and public library and records management experience with him to Florida Southern College in 1986. Here he has served as Reference Librarian, Collection Development Librarian, and from 2007-2024 as Director of the Library. In 2024 he was appointed Dean of Library Services.

Mr. MacDonald was President of the Florida Southern College Chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi from 2009-2010 and 2011-2024, and served as President of the Tampa Bay Library Consortium (TBLC) in 2012.

He has served as an accreditation committee member for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, is a past Vice President and member of the Executive Committee and Executive Board of the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as a school volunteer for more than 35 years.
