Biography
Dr. Victoria Giordano possess more than 30 years of richly diverse experience in higher education.
Prior to administrative roles in higher education she was a professor for twenty years. Her teaching includes courses taught at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. She has taught general education and developmental courses, program-specific courses at the undergraduate level, numerous curriculum and technology-focused master’s level courses, and doctoral courses in curriculum and instruction. She has designed and developed courses and programs at all levels and have mentored others as they taught courses in her areas of specialty. Additionally, she has chaired and served on honors and master’s theses committees as well as on numerous doctoral dissertation committees.
Dr. Giordano has several peer reviewed published papers and presentations on topics focusing on curriculum design and reform, professional development, assessment of learning, and distance learning.
She has over 10 years of experience in administration within higher education spanning roles as Associate Dean for Learning and Academic Support Services, co-director of accreditation efforts in the School of Education, and Faculty Senate Chair.
For over six years Dr. Giordano served as the Associate Dean for Learning and Academic Support Services at Barry University where she worked collaboratively with others to restructure developmental reading, writing, and mathematics courses and curriculum; revamp the placement testing assessments, processes and policies; revise the academic support services provided; and educate and engage the broader university community about the needs of the students who participate in the developmental program and the importance of the programming for their success. She managed budgets generating approximately $2,000,000 in revenue annually, supervised more than 50 full- and part-time instructional and non-instructional staff, and oversaw the curriculum for developmental courses and academic success initiatives.
Prior to that role, she co-directed the development and implementation of the assessment system over a five-year period for all FL DOE state-approved teacher preparation programs in the School of Education at Barry University.
