Florida Southern’s MSIO program is designed to help international students not only earn a degree but also build valuable U.S. work experience.

International Graduate Students

During the second semester of their junior year, all Florida Southern College undergraduate students are eligible to be considered for early admission to the MSIO program. Admitted students will be allowed to complete a maximum of 9 credit hours of graduate work prior to undergraduate graduation.

These credits will count towards the requirements for the undergraduate and MSIO degree. Any MSIO courses attempted before receiving the undergraduate degree will be charged at the traditional undergraduate full-time tuition rate. After the student receives their undergraduate degree, graduate courses will be billed at the current MSIO per credit hour rate.

The Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (MSIO) program at Florida Southern College is designed to:

1. Develop Research-Practitioners: Prepare students to critically evaluate, apply, and generate research in the field of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to address complex organizational and human resource challenges.
2. Enhance Research and Analytical Proficiency: Provide advanced training in research methods, statistical analysis, and data interpretation, enabling students to make informed, evidence-based decisions and contribute to applied and scholarly research.
3. Deliver Comprehensive Knowledge of I/O Psychology: Foster a deep understanding of the theoretical frameworks, historical trends, and core content areas within I/O Psychology as outlined by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) competencies.
4. Promote Ethical and Culturally Aware Practice: Cultivate an understanding of ethical responsibilities and the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the discipline and practice of I/O Psychology.
5. Support Applied Learning and Professional Development: Offer students experiential learning through internships, thesis research, and service-learning projects that integrate academic knowledge with real-world organizational applications.
6. Encourage Community Engagement and Leadership: Foster professional growth through mentorship, service-learning, and community engagement, preparing graduates to contribute positively to organizations and society as ethical and socially responsible leaders.

Program Learning Outcomes

1. Students will collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data in order to critically evaluate and apply current research findings to real-world problems in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
2. Students will integrate and apply major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends to evaluate and propose solutions to contemporary issues in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, consistent with the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP, 2016) competencies.
3. Students will critically analyze and evaluate the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the practice and profession of Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
4. Students will design and implement applied research and professional projects (e.g., thesis, service-learning, or internships) to address organizational challenges and contribute original solutions to the professional practice of Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
